Barn doors don t lie flush with the door opening.
If it s more than 1 4 inch or greater at the top or bottom cut and attach a wood shim to close up the gap.
This means that if sound separation or privacy is a major goal barn doors with their gap might not be the best choice.
Rather they hover over the opening creating gaps.
Close the barn door and notice how tightness and uniformity of the gap.
