In many cases when there s a gap between the headboard and mattress it is simply because the box spring isn t positioned correctly. Short footboards can either have the bedspread tucked behind the footboard or allowed to cover it.

It was supposed to be a standard king. I bought my mattress about 4 or 5 years ago. Tall footboards require that the bedspread be tucked into the gap between the footboard and the mattress. The number of boards you use depends on how wide the gap is.

When they arrived and set everything up i also noticed that there was a huge gap between the mattress and the rails and the mattress and the headboard footboard though not as much. Check pieces and determine measurements. It pushes the mattress all the way up to the headboard so that the gap doesn t occur at all.

Step 3 remove both the mattress and box spring if this still doesn t fix the situation. Stand at the bottom end of the bed and try to push the box spring until it hits the headboard.
